It's JUNE! New Releases and New Flash Fic

Holy Moly! Where did the time go?

It's June and I'm a little behind on my normal flow. The end of May was rough as I had a small procedure done and it took more out of me than I expected. The hazards of ageing, sadly. But I'm ready to rock through June and then hit the keys hard in July for Camp NaNoWriMo.

Two New Releases and one to go!

Spin Play

Now in his mid-thirties, college professor Ben is tired of playing around. He’s more than ready to stop with the hide-and-seek and start with the manhunt. The fantasy of his perfect mate becomes reality when the tables are turned during an evening out to celebrate his birthday. The music is cranked up loud, and the startlingly flexible Sawyer tempts Ben with his seductive moves. Ben’s willing to play Sawyer’s game, taking a chance on the adventure with all its twists and turns, and hoping his decision will be the winning move that will last a lifetime.

Cue the Music

Available 6/15/2021

Every relationship has had it at some point. The singular argument that escalates, that lingers. More often than not, the couple finds their way back to status quo. But what happens when they don’t? What happens when one gives up?
After months of trying to resolve their issues, Ty loses hope. He leaves, with only his music to keep him company. Until one day, he feels someone watching him intently from the bar. Maybe, just maybe, Ty won't end up alone after all.

Cue the Music is a stand-alone short story in the Southern Jersey Shores series.

June Flash Fic - Steel and his Daddy

Before you read this... Daddy Charles is called Daddy Nix by his boys.
Why is a secret! If you figure it out, shh!

“Why are we here, Daddy?” Steel rubbed his nose trying to clear the musty, dusty scent invading his senses.

“I’m looking for a book, and I have it on good authority that what I’m looking for will be here.”

“An old book?” Steel crowded Daddy Nix as they stepped farther inside the dimly lit store. He glanced around and realized that the story was maybe not so dimly lit as it was the full stacks blocking the overhead lights and throwing a multitude of shadows.

“Yes.”

“What kind of old book? Do you think they have a book for me? I like adventure books with lots of magic and dragons? Sometimes I imagine I’m a dragon shifter and I have to save my brother from the evil wizard.”

Daddy smiled at him, a flicker of flame dancing in his eyes. “A dragon shifter, huh? I would have thought you’d want to be Pegasus.” He led Steel through the aisles towards a large counter covered in books and a cash register.

“Pegasus! No way. He’s too white. I’m jet black, so I’d have to be an evil Pegasus, and I don’t want to. I wanna be the good guy.”

“Always best be to the good guy,” a deep voice rumbled behind Steel, startling him. He jumped and clung to Daddy’s arm, annoyed that he’d been so distracted he hadn’t noticed the stranger come up behind them.

Once he got his breathing under control, Steel peeked at the man who’d spoken. He looked up and up, marveling at the giant. It was rare he met someone bigger than himself. The man had a good six inches on Steel and at least fifty pounds---all muscle. He had a thick, bushy head of dark hair and an equally busy beard to match.

“Holy moly, Daddy! He’s huge!”

The giant rumbled, the thrumming hitting Steel in the chest and causing him to laugh along with the huge man. Steel couldn’t stop the question spinning through his brain. “Are you a giant?”

“Nope,” the giant chuckled, “I’m a dragon.”

Steel’s eyes widened. “For real?”

The giant smiled, his teeth gleaming white as it shone through the scruffy, fluffy dark beard. “For real.” He held up a hand and shiny blue scales rippled across the back of it and up his arm. As quick as they appeared, they disappeared.

The dragon studied them for a moment. “A Legendary with a Stallion. Interesting. I smell a third, too, another Stallion. Very, very---”

Daddy cleared his throat.

“As you wish,” the dragon shifter finished. “I have what you are looking for, Legendary, and I may have something for your boy. May I?” He offered a few fingers towards Steel who glanced from them to Daddy.

Daddy stared at the dragon for a long minute.

The dragon placed his hand over his heart. “You have nothing to fear from me. I will keep him safe. The book you desire is there on the edge of the counter.” He pointed to a thick book, bound in a red and gold hardcover.

“The book for your boy is this way.” The dragon swung his hand to indicate further into the store’s depths.

Steel wanted the book, but he didn’t really want to leave Daddy’s side. The dragon seemed nice enough; he’d be okay. He could be big for a few minutes even though Daddy said he could be little all day.

“I’ll go with you,” Daddy said, wrapping a protective arm around Steel’s waist.

Steel curled into Daddy Nix and kissed his cheek, contentment warming his core. He hadn’t had to say anything; his daddy knew. Steel hugged him tight. “Thank you, Daddy. You’re the best daddy ever.”

Spin Play and Spring Musings

My goal of posting monthly fell by the wayside, crashing in dramatic fashion, but not forgotten. The last few months I've been pulled in a variety of directions.

First there was the request to join an ARC review team. I jumped at the chance to read a new contemporary author, not knowing she had a slew of backlog titles and I'd be reviewing a new book every 10 days. Keep an eye out for Sierra Riley, she's got a few worthwhile reads, and some not so good ones. Read my reviews on Goodreads first to make sure you don't waste your time.

Then there the opportunity to review for QUEERcentric Books. After writing a few reviews for the website, I was officially accepted onto the team, and now you can follow me here. What started as just reading and writing the reviews, recently became posting my own reviews. It was a learning process that quickly enabled me to write better blogs for you, my fans. I learned how to insert pictures, and highlight quotes, how to create links and further customize this blog. There's still tricks I've got to figure out, but I'll get there.

Spin Play

One goal accomplished was finalizing my fourth book in my Southern Jersey Shores series. I give you Spin Play...

The cover was created by Francu Wulf Godgluck with the critical eye of KC Faelan lending a hand on both cover and beta reading. I also want to send out some cyber love to my betas: Jonathan Penn, Eric Alan Westfall, Al Stewart and Dawn Sister, and my editor: Debbie McGowan over at Beaten Track Publishing. Thank you all for your continued support and help in getting Spin Play from the first words to the final release. It's now available for preorder at Amazon, Smashwords and ARE.

Spin Play wasn't the only cover I had Wulf and KC collarborating on. I also had them help me redo Ultimate Summer (SJS #3). Check it out...

Nice, right??

Another chunk of time was a bucket list vacation item, and I headed to Las Vegas for a week of playtime. What a fantastic city, but I was too tired at night to actually see much of the Sin that gives the city its nickname. Absinthe, though, now there's a show. Fantastic: raunchy and breathtaking in more than one way. Also while I was there, my husband and I also joined fellow author Hunter Frost and her significant other for dinner. We got an eyeopener into the history of the city, while Hunter and I got to compare "notes".

So now, I'm back to writing...reviews and the follow up to Lion's Hero. Among other family obligations. NaNo camp is going slow, but that's okay. Just keep writing...
